Nutella Rice Krispie Treats

nutella-krispies-1

Aside from my family, there are two things in this world that I honestly don’t think I could live without. At the very least, my quality of life would surely suffer without them. They are Nutella and Rice Krispie treats. Seriously. I have to keep the Nutella jar safely hidden away in my pantry where I can’t see it, or else it would quickly disappear, spoonful by spoonful. And, don’t even get me started on the Rice Krispie treats! I always say that I make them for the kids, but the sad truth is I make them for ME, ME, ME! In fact, I rarely dare to even make them anymore, because if there’s a tray of them in the house, I cannot rest until I have consumed Every. Single. One. If there was a twelve step program for Rice Krispie treats, I’d be in it. Sigh…

nutella-krispies-3

So, imagine the allure of a Rice Krispie treat made with mounds of Nutella swirled in. It’s almost too much to contemplate! I can’t believe I never thought of it before! I actually didn’t think of it this time. I got the idea from an episode of Top Chef Just Desserts, which is pretty much the only thing I’ve gotten from that show so far, except a throbbing headache from watching all of the drama. (Seth, I’m talking about you!)

Now, I’m pretty sure that most of you already know how to make Rice Krispie treats. But I’m going to explain it anyway, because I need some words to go along with all of these pictures. read more >>

Daring Bakers Make Tiramisu

When I first learned that this month’s Daring Bakers challenge was Tiramisu, I thought “Woo Hoo!”. At last, an easy one! I’m Italian. I can make tiramisu in my sleep! Then I read something about making our own savoiardi, which are the “lady fingers” that act as the …

Candied Bacon-Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Wednesday, February 17, 201056 Comments

I’ve always considered myself to to be a hip and trendy kind of girl, especially when I was in my twenties. As you get older, though, it gets a little harder to pull it off. Still, I try to keep up with the times. Having a sixteen year old …

TWD: Cafe Volcano Cookies (aka Great Personality Cookies)

Tuesday, December 15, 200926 Comments

I remember when I was in high school, my mother once tried to convince me to go out with the dorky son of one of her bridge buddies. “What does he look like?” I asked. She replied, “Looks aren’t everything. He’s got such a great personality!” I knew I …

TWD: Lemon Sables

Tuesday, December 8, 200925 Comments

I call this week’s TWD recipe the Clark Kent of cookies. These sables appear to be unassuming little wallflowers of a cookie. Yet, one bite is all it takes to realize that they are quite special. Sables are basically a butter cookie. While they are sumptuously rich and buttery, …
