I can't seem to get my bacon as crispy and golden as yours. It seems my bacon is rendering a lot of fat compared to your photos. Any tips?

Candied bacon is my husband's new favorite snack bite after work. He only takes 1/2 strip, but I now make way more than I plan to use. Instead of chips I chopped chocolate into chunks and tossed it all into the dough, choco shaves and all, and found that mixture too dense - the chocolate overwhelmed the bacon. I doubled the dough and added more bacon, and that ratio was about right for me.

I love candied bacon. My friend told me to add red pepper flakes on top of the brown sugar - oh my goodness is it good! It's the only way I make bacon at home now.

Hi - Can I ask you two questions about this? One, did you or would you suggest cutting back on the salt in the recipe to compensate for the saltiness of the bacon, or leave it the same? My other question - did you chill or freeze the dough before baking? I'm wondering, if I did chill or freeze the dough, if the sugar on the candied bacon would melt. Thanks for any thoughts.

We tried the candied bacon at Christmas and the family loved it. It was super easy .. I wasn't sure how people would react to it, but they loved it. Thanks for the idea!

Just wanted to say these are fantastic - they are a huge hit every time I make them, and my 8 year old son loves teasing the newbies about the SECRET ingredient. The first time I made them, my son paused the Wii, came out to the kitchen and asked what I was making because it smelled delicious and he wanted to try it...he PAUSED the Wii!! Thanks so much for a fun, delicious and different recipe!
